WLAN Service Introduction

The introduction of GLOBECOM 2002 WLAN Service
1. The service is provided by HiNet, Chunghwa Telecom.
2. Using 802.11b Wi-Fi standard.
3. Every conferee would have a free 500-point HiNet Prepaid Card sponsored by HiNet.When this free HiNet Prepaid Card points are running out , please purchase new HiNet Prepaid Cards at the information service center.
Note:The favored price of each 500-point HiNet Prepaid Card is NTD 300.
The period of validity of HiNet Prepaid Card is :
2002/11/16 ~ 2002/11/23 .
4. There is free WLAN card (PCMCIA-interface, Suitable for:Windows98、Me、2000、XP) leasing service (a cash pledge required) at the information service center during the conference.

WLAN users requirement
1. Notebook(Windows98、Me、2000、XP) or Pocket PC/PDA with WinCE. 
Note:Pocket PC/PDA user have to self-provided WLAN card.
2. Wi-Fi WLAN card compatible with IEEE 802.11b .
3. A HiNet Prepaid Card account .
Note: Every conferee would have a free 500-point HiNet Prepaid Card sponsored by HiNet .

WLAN Services
After access the internet with WLAN card, you can enjoy web browser、 FTP  and read or write your e-mail...etc .

　

The steps of using WLAN service
1.
(1) Make sure the WLAN card is installed and setup successfully.
(2) Set SSID (or ESSID) to be "hinet ". (small letters)
(3) Disable WEP.
(4) Set your TCP/IP to be DHCP (that automatically assigns IP addresses to client stations).
(5) Choose never dial-up connection of your browser.
(6) Disable proxy.
2. Open the browser (IE / Netscape) ,then you can see the WLAN homepage.
3. Click "Start" on the WLAN homepage to begin the WLAN service.
4. Enter your HiNet Prepaid Card account ( ID and password ) in the WLAN authentication page.
5. After authenticated successfully, you can access the internet and see the GLOBECOM 2002 official website while another logout window is also pop-up.
6. To end WLAN service, please click "logout" in the logout pop-up window.

Price
The service is charged per minute.The access fee is NTD one per minute for HiNet subscribers and one point per minute for HiNet Prepaid Card users.
